ROLL YOUR OWN

Ahaha that title makes me laugh anyway...

So here I am, determined to get through these 23 things but exams exams exams take precedence.

RIghto, so forget the easiness of Library thing and get into Rollyo.

Its hard, It was easy to find the links to create and the steps are straight forward but yeah.

Once I had created the seach engine, I wanted to find the link but it appeared in the general list of things on my home rollyo search page. SO I'm going to give you my general home search page, under that click on movie reviews and search any movie.

I'm obsessed with films and their reviwes, so if there was a search engine, simply dedicated to movie reviews I'd be in paradise :D

This tool could be very useful for things like homework subjects and what not. Being a student myself I don't have time to browse through the one million things google offers... (although Suzie said that only 30% of all content on the internet can be found via google?) SO then it makes it even handier surely? That you can create your own content specific search engines, that cover sites that may not be on your average google?

SO a v. v handy tool for the future and would be enjoyed by young students like me...

voulez vous :D

Books...

It reminds me of that poem of Roald Dahl's. In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (o I should add that to my catalogue) when they talk about Mike Teavee and how he watched too much televison.

"They used to read..."

And on the poem goes to describe the books and what parents should do to the televison and so on...

Being a book nerd I did a project on Children's literature and being 14 at the time wrote a major essay on it. I used that poem as the basis of my paper. I'm going to call it a a paper because it is about 14 pages long.

ANyway so that was thing 7... a bit behind on the things to do, but I'm a student... Making an online catalogue of things to read, what a good idea.

I first thought, oh I'm going to have to remember all my books and what not but once I got started I forced myself to stop, eventually... although I still am going to add Charlie and The Chocolate factory.

This was an easy peasy no brainer exercise and I fully enjoyed ignoring my exam study. I would reccomend this site to anyone that wants to see your taste in books in a visual display. In my case it is just as mixed as my music taste, slightly eccentric and no underlying pattern :D

Sweden, Swedes and Swedish-lish

Ha...found something rather fun.

A year or so ago I happened to be in Germany on exchange. On my last week there, I thought oh my god. Presents? what to buy the family who paid for this :P So I thinks to myself and come up with absolutely nothing. (as usual) anyways I'm beginning to worry then my host mother suggests a big shop that sounds foreign that I've never heard of.

IKEA...

Sounds foreign? imagine poor me... anyway we take a trip to KIEA and i'm in paradise... a cup of tea would be necessary to explain all the wonders in there :P

So I happen to be doing this web2 training and I stumble across the IKEA furniture name generator... put your name in and a piece of furniture at IKEA is yours...

ha I am famous... alala all on the internet though :(

Anway, that was much easier than RSS... I like this type it into the computer and it does it all for you... hahaha yeah that's pretty much me.

Anway here's the link... go play... http://www.blogadilla.com/2008/05/11/the-blogadilla-swedish-furniture-name-generator/

Wordle and library things

Wordle... doesn't the name just sound fantastic... I don't know if this was part of week 3 (play week) but Loryn put me onto it. So I began week 3 and what a better way to play round with images than to create word ones of your own.

Have a look at mine. Its about people who are born in january and the things they are...

Righto... off to eat chocolate and maybe think about playing around with some images instead of clicking the randomizer on wordle...

RSS and other mumbo jumbo...

Wow, so RSS... at the end of the lesson I finally figured what you're on about. It makes a bit of sense and is workable but to a simple young lad like myself, its all a bit much. I discovered, while woriking with bloglines and RSS that I'm really not all that computer literate and I was just not getting it.

My problem is that I have absolutely no patience and after a while (working the unshelved comic strip) I played around and figured that if I added the fri 18th strip to my feeds it added the rest of them as well. Bloglines seems like a smart idea and is opening my mind to a whole new internet world so it's working for me. I think I just need to gather my patience about me and keep on trying things... I subscribed to about 6 "packs" which within them contain about 5 different feeds each, so it makes sense to me and I'm having fun browsing them as well.

Although, I couldn't find the staff blogs register, so i'm not sure if I'm on the right track with this... If someone could leave a comment letting me know?

Mucho gracias, enough head stuff for one evening, I'm off to write a 2000 word essay...

Getting started?

Gosh, this is quite exciting really... Learning how to use the net, I wish all the organisations taught you how to do this... I can use msn, bebo and hotmail, that's about it really.

Right, so Susan sent this to me about 2 weeks ago but my little brother destroyed our computer so I'm just getting started now, on the new computer that I really have no idea how to work.

Finally making some sense of this blogger stuff and working through the 23 or is it 43? things steadily... it told me to make a blog so I did...

SO I better continue... this is really quite exciting isn't it... wishing myself luck I'm on to step 3...
